With so much buzz around the show and Robin Williams return to television (!!) there was no way I wasn’t going to watch this show. Right off the bat, no doubt about it, this is a vehicle for Williams to do what people love him for. The voices, the outlandish gestures, the character work. It is tailor made for him and everyone else is just a prop.
Which is unfortunate since I’m a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar and in this she doesn’t have a whole lot to work with. James Wolk steals most of the scenes he is in, including those with Williams. His character is shallow both as written and in a larger sense as there doesn’t really seem to be anywhere for him to grow.
I do laugh out loud during this show though and that’s not something I say about a lot of things. The Crazy Ones still has a way to go before really winning me over but I’ll keep with it for now.
